July 13th - Trondheim

I haven't had much access to electricity lately so this may be breifer than usual to conserve battery power. After the partying of Friday night I was quite tired so I had quite a lazy day strolling around Trondheim. I first visited the cathedral which was just across the bridge from the hostel. I had to pay to get in, but as usual the medieval architecture was impressive. Then there was a very good museum in the adjoining palace with exhibits about the restoration of the cathedral. Tours up into the tower ran every half hour and I was lucky enough to get onto the last one, despite a very pushy family who tried to jump the queue. Although Trondheim is quite flat, the view from the top provided a good overview of the city.

I next went for a walk around the town to stock up on film and food. The town has wide cobbled streets, and makes for a pleasant stroll around. I ended up at the fortress up the hill. The guide book promised dungeons but everything seemed closed. From here I could see over the town and out to the water. There was a cruise ship anchored out there which I was later told is used as an apartment complex - it is really a tax haven as it is in international waters!

I returned to the hostel and met the two portugese girls again. We had been told by the Norwegians we met about a party, and sure enough by eight pm we had met up with them and were having drinks in their house with about twenty other people. After the pre-party we went out into town to a bar until about three am. I think another lazy day is in store for me again!
